Cane & Bamboo work is practiced from the ancient days. Baskets of various types is seen greatly. Apart from basket, fans, containers, furniture etc are also made. Cane & Bamboo things have greater market in cities than villages. Some artisan who cater to more urban and sophisticated markets are centered in and around Calcutta, Jalpaiguri, Darjeeling, Birbhum, 24 Parganas, Midnapore, Coochbehar are traditional centers.
