How to use Search Engine - Step by step guide ?
The Search Engine is very simple to use yet extremely powerful software, allowing full-text search of vast number of files in seconds. It needs just three inputs from you:
  • A search string - to be typed in search window
  • Your selection of Category (from a drop down menu)
  • Your selection or un-selection of a Checkbox for ALL or ANY search words
Here's Step by Step Guide on How to Use Search Engine
  1. Type a search string into the input field. The search string could be a single word (e.g. garments) or a combination of words (leather garments) or a phrase ("Home Furnishing Textiles")

  2. If you are using two or more words, please separate them with blanks. The default combination is AND - that is to search for ALL words you have typed in the search window. So, if you type - handmade costume jewelry - only documents that contain ALL the words (i.e. handmade and costume and jewelry) will be retrieved. Remember - search result will be very specific and few (probably missing important documents) if you use this combination

  3. If you are using more than one word and wish to search for documents that contain ANY of the search words used (e.g. Garments or Apparels or Cloths or Dresses) please un-select the YES/NO checkbox for ALL or ANY combination. You will find the checkbox next to search window (before a + sign). The checkbox contains a tick-sign () - meaning it is selected (i.e. default is to search for ALL words). To un-select the checkbox (i.e. to search for ANY word), place cursor on the tick-sign and left-click your mouse. The tick-sign should disappear - meaning the checkbox is 'un-selected'.

  4. You can use a phrase (e.g. "Home Furnishing Textiles") in search window for accurate pinpointed search. Please encircle the phrase with double quotes (") - for example "100% cotton garments" or "costume jewelry"

  5. Use wildcards(*) in search terms to search for word variations For example the search word garmen* means search for all words starting with garmen (e.g. garment, garments)

  6. You can exclude a word by preceding it with Minus-sign (-). For example - +"Latin America" - brazil finds all files that contain the phrase "Latin America" in it and then excludes all files from this selection that also has the word 'brazil'. So, the search result contains all files on Latin America except brazil.

  7. Last input the search engine needs from you is the category to be searched. For accurate search result free from unwanted junk, the search engine allows category wise search.

  8. Please click at the drop down menu in next line to display list of categories such as

  • Member Directory

  • Overseas Buyers

  • Overseas Agents

  • Indian Buyers

  • Indian Agents

  • Etc.

  • Please select any of the categories and click 'Search' button or press Enter

  • The search result will appear in seconds, sorted by relevancy. Each listing in the search result displays enough information from the file to help you select the right files. Click at any listing - it will display actual files with highlighted search words.

  • If you are not satisfied with search result or a power-user, click at 'Advanced Search'. This contains powerful operators like Case Sensitive search, search in meta tags etc.
