Receiving Unrelated/Irrelevant Special Alerts

Special Alert is a computer program that matches every incoming document (e.g. trade leads, tenders, news etc.) with members' interest areas and alert concerned members through e-mail about matched documents. The purpose is to update every member about new opportunities on his/her interest area.

  • Success of special alert depends entirely on how best you describe your interest area. There are several tools to describe your interest area accurately. There are also several tools to block unwanted documents. Using these simple procedures you can accurately describe your interest areas. Your interest area, so described, is called Alert Profile.

Please also read What is Special Alert ? for more information

  • You can create your Alert Profile in 3 Steps:
    Select Document Kind
    • Select the document kinds you want such as, Indian trade leads, overseas trade leads, sell leads, tenders etc.
    • This process also helps you block unwanted documents. For example, if you do not select tenders, you will not receive information on new tenders
    • The default is all documents, i.e. if you do not exercise this selection, you will receive information on all kinds of documents
    Select Product Category
    • Select product categories related to your interest areas. This will ensure, you receive only documents that belong to selected product categories only.
    • There are separate category option for describing your interest areas.
    • The default is your company product category (i.e. the categories under which your profile is listed in directory section). If you do not exercise this option, you will receive documents that match the categories you have selected under general product category section of your profile.
    Select Keywords
    • You can specify upto 12 keywords to describe your interest area in Alert Profile
    • Only documents that contain your specified keywords in title section will be sent to you through alerts.
    • Please exercise caution, as you may miss vital documents if keyword selection is incorrect.

  • So, you create your 'Alert Profile' by describing your interest areas in above 3 steps. To create or change your Alert Profile - please log-in to Member's Control Panel and make necessary changes.

Alerts are sent to thousands of members through computerised match making of document profile and members' alert profiles (as explained above). Being an automated process - there is no human editor to moderate its contents. You can change your alert profile as many times as you like - special alerts will take latest profile and send you documents that match it. There is no human intervention.

If you receive unrelated trade leads - please change your alert profile.
