Browser showing old information ?

The Great Indian Bazaar (www.infobanc.com) is updated everyday with new information on overseas import trade leads, domestic opportunities, new retail resources, overseas importers, tenders, projects, agents and distributors etc. So, if you find old information - perhaps your browser is playing tricks with you by displaying old information from its cache rather than downloading the latest from infobanc.com portal.

It is a common problem with all browsers. The easiest solution is to clear your browser's cache and re-check the page. Browsers (Netscape, Internet Explorer, Opera, Mozilla etc.) use an area in local hard disk to store information on frequently visited web-pages. This area is called disk cache.

Browsers do this to save time. Whenever user requests a page from Internet, the browser first checks its disk cache. A frequently visited page should be available in disk cache. The browser downloads the page from local disk cache instead of remote server, if it is unchanged.

Sometimes browsers can not detect changes in frequently visited page and display it from disk cache even when the page at remote server has undergone changes.

You can easily solve this problem by clearing your browser's cache. Please connect to Internet and go to a page that you suspect to be showing old information. Press the 'Reload' (Netscape) or 'Refresh' (Internet Explorer) button several times. Normally, this action forces your browser to load from remote Internet site rather than local disk cache.

For longer time solution - please delete all cache files or increase cache area.
  • For Netscape

  • go to Edit > Preferences > Advanced > Cache and click at 'Clear Disk Cache' and 'Clear Memory Cache'

  • For Internet Explorer,

  • On the Tools menu in Internet Explorer, click Internet Options. On the General tab, you will find 'Temporary Internet Files' has two options 'Delete Files' and 'Settings'. To clear disk cache, press 'Delete Files'. To create more space to store pages temporarily, click at 'Settings'. Move the slider to the right.
