Internet
is a huge network of Servers... and Clients
Internet or the World Wide Web (WWW) is made up of millions
of networked computers. While some of these remain permanently connected
and form the backbone of the network (e.g. your ISP) others connect
to the network as and when required (e.g. your computer). The computers
forming the backbone of the network is called 'servers' while your
computer is called a 'client'
Web
Space = Storage Space in server
To have a permanent footprint in the Internet - called
your web-site or home, you need storage space in a server. This
storage space is then allotted your domain name through a technology
called Internet Protocol Number or IP Number.
Web
Site = Domain Name + Web Space
Through a technology called DNS (Domain Name Server)
- any Internet user can reach your web-space using your domain
name. All he/she needs to do is to place your domain name (e.g.
infobanc.com) in his/her browser window (http://www.infobanc.com)
and bingo ! he will reach your web-space and be able to view any
file you have placed there.
