TERRACOTTA

Bengal is proud of her ancient terracotta art. The association of religion with this craft has given it another dimension. The traditional potters "Kumbhakars" had been producing religious & domestic needs, on their wheels. Apart from these clay dolls, birds, beasts, tiles are also the other terracotta objects. The technique ha remained the same moulding dry & fired & then finished with water colour & varnish. The ethnic style of terracotta has held its head high even today.
