can meet:
We\'re looking for a USB manufacturer that can supply us with a
large quantity of USB memory sticks that can meet the following
criteria. This project is reaching a critical stage of planning and
implementation, and any questions or quotes need to be received as
quickly as possible. We will also need to be able to have several
prototype units delivered for testing prior to an order being finalized.
1. Prefer a 2 GB stick, but 1GB is acceptable at this time.
2. Must be able to partition memory into a public side and a private,
locked / non-erasable, non-publicly accessible partition of approximately
1k in size. Contents of the hidden partition will be a hidden, read-only
file containing a security key which ideally will be unique, but this
uniqueness is not absolutely necessary. This file needs to be read by
the application running on the public side.
3. The drive name as reported to the O/S should be preset at manufacture
time and should be unchangeable.
4. Approximately 75mb of files and folders needs to be pre-written
to the public side, but marked as hidden and they should be non-deletable
(and, if possible, non-copyable).
5. Upon insertion into the USB port of a PC or a Mac, a specified
application needs to auto-launch.
6. If possible, the USB stick should be able to recognize whether it\'s
been plugged into a PC or an Apple machine, and auto-launch the
appropriate application when plugged into an Apple. (This is very crucial.
May be best if it is in a Java Script.)
7. It would be nice if a custom icon were displayed instead of a standard
USB drive icon.
8. Unit must be moderately waterproof, able to withstand things such as rain,
drink spills, dropping into a sink or stream, etc.
9. We would like the flexibility of being able to offer a range of case and
fastener options, starting with the specifications as listed above in a stylish,
low-end version and all the way up to a very-high-quality, nearly
indestructible deep-water-proof (stainless steel?) case at the upper end.
