1. Trinidad and Tobago is ranked 69th out of 185 economies in Doing Business 2013. Its overall score is 1 point higher than last year, reflecting a 9 point increase in the Trading Across Borders indicator.
2. According to the latest Enterprise Surveys (2010), an Inadequately Educated Workforce and Crime, Theft, and Disorder represent the biggest obstacles to running a business in Trinidad and Tobago. 74.0% of firms reported having to pay for security, higher than the 62.1% figure for the region.
3. Trinidad and Tobago’s economic freedom score is 64.4, making its economy the 63rd freest out of 183 countries in the 2012 Index. Its score is 2.1 points lower than last year, reflecting declines in scores for government spending, monetary freedom, and trade freedom. Trinidad and Tobago is ranked 13th out of 29 countries in the South and Central America/Caribbean region, and its overall score is higher than the world and regional averages.
